“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” ~Matthew 11:28
When your adult child you love struggles in ways that hurt you deeply, it breaks the heart leaving a constant heaviness that cuts deep into the soul. The pain of a broken relationship with your own child is something no one should ever have to endure alone. But guess what? God sees you. He feels your pain, your fear, your confusion, and your exhaustion. You are not responsible for his or her actions, choices and the consequences that come with those choices. As a mother, they affect you deeply. We are not meant to carry the burdens for them. We are to encourage them and pray for them. It is not easy to let go and give them to over to God so he can do his work in them. Prayer is not just about asking change – sometimes it’s about asking for strength to endure, wisdom to decide your next steps, and peace to guard your heart. He’s inviting you today to lay down your heavy burden at His feet and find a moment of rest — even if just for a little while.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” ~ Psalm 34:18
God doesn’t turn away when we are hurting deeply. In fact, He draws near and becomes our refuge in the pain.
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast even more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” ~2 Corinthians 12:9
When you feel weak or drained, God’s power shines brightest when we admit we can’t do it alone—He meets us there with grace.
Prayer:
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I long for healing—for my son and for me. Please soften his heart and open his eyes to Your love and mercy. Help us both to see beyond the hurt, to forgive where forgiveness is possible, and to find a way to walk toward peace, even if it’s just one small step at a time. Restore what has been damaged and bring hope into the darkness we face . Teach me to trust You with my son’s heart and with my own. Fill me with peace knowing that You are in control, even when I feel powerless. Lord, I need Your wisdom more than ever as I navigate this complicated path. Help me to make choices that protect my well-being and honor Your will. Show me when to speak and when to stay silent, when to reach out and when to set distance. Let Your Spirit guide me so I can act with love and clarity.
In Jesus Name, Amen.”
